Do You Have Hard Water?
Jul 20, 2018Even though you may have hard water, you may not realize it. While it doesn’t physically hurt you and it is safe to drink, many people prefer to have soft water.
Do you have hard water and not know it? Here are some signs to look out for:
Dry and itchy skin. One of the most common signs of hard water is dry and itchy skin. Many complain that their skin looks leathery. Hard water can also cause more breakouts because the water blocks your pores. Â
Faded and dirty laundry. Not only is hard water rough on your skin, it can also really damage your laundry. Clothes will fade more quickly than they would with soft water. They may also be scratchy and uncomfortable to wear and sleep on.
Dirty dishes. Buildup can also affect the cleanliness of your dishes. Your water will also be harder on it, which can wear them down and even break them faster.
Stains. You may notice stains in your sinks and bathroom due to the buildup of calcium and magnesium. Appliances that use water may also get stained; given that, you may end up replacing your appliances more often.
Hard water can also affect your pipes. With all of the buildup from hard water, your pipes are going to be able to let less and less water through. You will need more water pressure in order to get enough water throughout your house. All of this will mean more repairs for you and your pipes.
Hard water isn’t necessarily bad but soft water is much better. It is better for your skin and laundry. You won’t have to worry about stains in your bathtubs and sinks from the buildup, not to mention the buildup that occurs in your pipes too.
