If you have a leak, it's time to call a plumber. Even a little leak can eventually become a big problem. Over time, the leak can grow larger, and may eventually lead to serious property damage. From water spots on the walls to ruined floorboards and more, a leak is nothing to ignore.
You can tell if you may have a plumbing system leak by looking at your water meter. Turn off all of the appliances, faucets, and other plumbing features in your home. Then, check the leak indicator on your water meter. This typically looks like a little wheel or triangular dial. If the dial/wheel is moving, this means that water is being moved through the meter. This means you most likely have a leak. Alternatively, you can take a meter reading, then wait a couple of hours ensuring that no appliances or other water sources in your house are used during that time before taking another reading. A changed reading most likely signifies a leak.
